Christensen Named to AVCA All-Region Team

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo - Sophomore middle blocker Carlie Christensen was named to the 12-member AVCA All-North Central Region team announced today by the American Volleyball Coaches Association in Colorado Springs. Christensen is now eligible for AVCA All-American honors. Senior setter Christie Johnson earned honorable mention accolades.
Christensen, who earned all-North Central Conference honors this season, ranked third in the NCC with with a .318 hitting percentage and 1.27 blocks per NCC game. She led this year's squad with a .331 hitting percentage and was second with 113 total blocks. She tallied double-figure kills in 16 matches this season and was third on the squad with 294 kills.
Christensen helped lead the Mavericks to a 20-8 record, a No. 23 national ranking and their second-consecutive appearance in the NCAA II Tournament.
Johnson was a two-time all-North Central Conference and academic all-NCC selection. She finished her career at No. 6 on the UNO career charts with 3,019 set assists. Johnson, along with senior outside hitter Ashley Freeman, were named to the all-tournament team at last week's NCAA II North Central Regional.
