
UNO Hosts NCC Foes MSU, No. 22 Augustana

After over a month on the road, the University of Nebraska at Omaha (9-4, 2-0 NCC) volleyball team returns to the friendly confines of the Sapp Fieldhouse when they entertain Minnesota State, Mankato (6-7, 1-1 NCC) at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 30. The Mavericks will then host 22nd-ranked Augustana (9-5, 1-2 NCC) on Saturday, Oct. 1, beginning at 6 p.m.
The Mavericks opened North Central Conference play last weekend on the road when they swept North Dakota, 30-28, 30-22, 30-28, and St. Cloud State, 30-14, 30-25, 30-16. Nebraska-Omaha has now won five straight matches and 11 consecutive games.
Scouting Minnesota State
Minnesota State is currently 6-7 overall and 1-1 in the NCC after splitting a pair of conference home matches last week, defeating St. Cloud State, 3-0, and falling to fourth-ranked Minnesota Duluth, 3-1. The Mavericks are led by junior outside hitter Mandy Reuter, who is averaging 3.37 kills and 3.00 digs per game. Senior middle blocker Tiffany Graham is averaging 3.02 kills and 1.00 blocks per game while hitting at a team-leading .284 clip.
Scouting Augustana
Augustana is currently ranked No. 22 in the nation with a 9-5 overall record and a 1-2 NCC mark. The Vikings are led by senior all-NCC setter Angie Hummel, who is averaging 12.00 assists, 3.19 digs, 1.57 kills, and 0.80 blocks per game. Hummel leads the NCC in attack percentage at .403. Senior outside hitter Abby McDonald is averaging a team-leading 4.37 kills per game and is hitting .249. Junior middle blocker Andrea Oswald leads the team in blocking at 1.30 per game and is second with 3.33 kills per game. Junior libero Abby Schmidt leads the NCC with 5.28 digs per game.
Miller Records 1,000th Career Dig
With her 30th dig against Southern Illinois-Edwardsville on Aug. 27, senior libero Chelsea Miller became the 19th player in school history to record 1,000 career digs. Miller has now recorded 1,129 digs in her UNO career which ranks 13th on the Maverick all-time career records' chart.
