UNO Opens Season at CMSU Jennies Challenge

The University of Nebraska at Omaha Mavericks will open the 2006 season this Thursday-Saturday, Aug. 24-26, when they travel to Warrensburg, Mo. to compete in the Central Missouri State Jennies Challenge.
The Tournament
The Mavericks will open the tournament against the host, 10th-ranked Central Missouri State at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. UNO will battle William Jewell at 7 p.m. Friday. The Mavericks will conclude the tournament with a 12 p.m. match against Pittsburg State on Saturday.
The Record
The Mavericks finished the 2005 season with a 20-8 record, advancing to the second round of the NCAA II Tournament for the second-straight season. UNO finished in second place in the final North Central Conference standings with a 10-2 league record. Two starters and six letterwinners return for the 2006 season as the Mavericks will have to replace last year's five departing seniors.
The Rankings
In the CSTV/AVCA Division II Coaches Top 25 preseason poll released on Aug. 21, Nebraska-Omaha was ranked No. 24. Central Missouri State starts the season ranked No. 10. Pittsburg State is not ranked, while St. Mary and William Jewell are both NAIA schools.
