Key NCC Match Next for Mavericks

The Mavericks will play just one match this week, but it will be an important North Central Conference match against first-place Minnesota Duluth. The Bulldogs are 2-0 in the NCC and UNO 1-0 before Sunday's 1 p.m. showdown in Duluth.
No. 1 ranked UNO improved to 6-0 overall and 1-0 in the NCC last week and senior forward Beth McGill was named the league's offensive player of the week. McGill scored four goals in 3-1 wins over Augustana and Texas Woman's University. Minnesota Duluth comes into the week at 6-1 overall and 2-0 in the conference. UMD will host Augustana Friday night before facing UNO.
The Series
UNO is 5-1 vs. Minnesota Duluth and has won five straight in the series, all by shutouts. UMD won the first meeting ever, in 2001, 3-2. UNO won last year's matches, 3-0 in Duluth and 5-0 in Omaha.
The Coach
Don Klosterman is in his eighth season as the UNO head coach. Klosterman, a 1974 graduate of Benedictine, has a 130-26-4 mark and is the only coach the Mavericks have ever had. He has twice been named the NSCAA Coach of the Year, in 2002 and 2005.
Last Week
UNO opened NCC play with a 3-1 win at Augustana, scoring twice in the second half to break a 1-1 tie. Beth McGill had a pair of goals in the win. Saturday, UNO claimed another 3-1 decision, defeating first-time opponent Texas Woman's University at Ak-Sar-Ben. McGill again tallied twice as UNO built a 3-0 lead.
Next Week
UNO will return home after the Minnesota Duluth match to play five straight times at Ak-Sar-Ben. UNO will host South Dakota at 4 p.m. Sept. 22 and North Dakota at 1 p.m. on Sept. 24.
