Mavericks Picked to Win NCC Soccer

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- The University of Nebraska at Omaha has been picked by league coaches to repeat as North Central Conference women's soccer champions in the NCC Coaches Poll released today.
Nebraska-Omaha, winners of three straight NCC titles, garnered six first-place votes with Minnesota State gaining the remaining top vote.
The Mavericks return eight starters and 13 letterwinners from last season's 19-1-2 squad that advanced to the NCAA II quarterfinals for the fifth-straight season.
Last season, Nebraska-Omaha won the NCC regular-season standings with an 11-0-1 mark. UNO advanced to the NCAA Championships and defeated Central Missouri and Washburn (on tiebreaker) before falling to Grand Valley State in the quarterfinals. It was the only loss of the season for the Mavericks.
Teams begin play on the weekend of August 23 with NCC play commencing September 8. The Mavericks will open the 2007 regular season on Friday, Aug. 24 at Cal State-Dominquez Hills.
