Mavs Blitz Wayne State in Three

OMAHA, Neb. -- Three Mavericks hit .400 or better as the 16th-ranked University of Nebraska at Omaha volleyball team swept No. 23 Wayne State 3-0 (30-20, 30-16, 30-21) before a season-high 1,436 fans Wednesday night at the Sapp Fieldhouse.
The Mavericks were led by sophomore Ellen Thommes who hit .542 with 14 kills, only one error in 24 attempts, while adding a match-high six blocks. Sophomore Kelli Goeser was also in double figures with 10 kills.
Senior Carlie Christensen hit .471 with nine kills, three digs, and a block. Senior Nicole McLeod also added nine kills, while hitting .412 in the match.
Senior setter Katie Agnew recorded her sixth double-double of the season with 41 assists and 13 digs while directing the UNO offense to a .322 attack percentage.
The Maverick defense held Wayne to a .006 hitting clip, limiting All-American Emily Schroeder to just nine kills and a .088 attack percentage.
Jamie Tooley and Annie Rice combined for 39 digs as the Mavericks held a commanding 83 to 53 advantage in digs and a 7.5 to 2.5 edge in blocks.
The Mavericks will be idle until Sept. 14 when they open up conference play at fourth-ranked Minnesota-Duluth.
