UNO Hosts NWMSU, Travels to MWSU, No. 12 Truman

Weekly Notes
The University of Nebraska at Omaha volleyball team (7-9, 3-3 MIAA) will resume MIAA action this week when they host Northwest Missouri State on Wednesday, Oct. 8 for a 7 p.m. match in the Sapp Fieldhouse. The Mavericks will then travel to St. Joseph, Mo. for a 7 p.m. match at Missouri Western on Friday, Oct. 10 and conclude the week with a 6 p.m. match on Saturday in Kirksville, Mo. at 12th-ranked Truman State.
The Record
The Mavericks are currently 7-9 overall and 3-3 in the MIAA after winning one of three conference matches two weeks ago. The Mavericks have been idle since Sept. 27 when they lost at home to 12th-ranked Emporia State. UNO has yet to win two-consecutive conference matches.
Northwest Missouri State is 6-12 overall and 3-3 in league action. Like the Mavericks, the Bearcats own conference victories over Fort Hays State, Missouri Southern, and Southwest Baptist. Both teams have also lost to three ranked MIAA opponents in Washburn, Emporia State, and Pittsburg State. UNO leads the all-time series with the Bearcats, 27-6. However, NWMSU won last year's meeting, 3-1, in Maryville in non-conference action.
Missouri Western is winless in the MIAA at 0-6 and 3-19 overall. The Griffons will be looking to snap a 10-match losing streak. MWSU's last victory was a five-set win against Texas Woman's University on Sept. 13. UNO has never lost to the Griffons, sporting an 11-0 all-time series lead against MWSU.
Truman State is currently ranked No. 12 in the latest AVCA top 25 poll. The Bulldogs are 17-5 overall and 4-2 in the MIAA. TSU has won four-straight matches and 12 consecutive sets. All five of the Bulldog losses this season have been to ranked teams. UNO leads the all-time series with Truman, 13-3, although the Bulldogs have won the last two contests in 2002 and 2006.

In the CBS College Sports Network/AVCA Division II Coaches Top 25 poll released on Oct. 6, five MIAA opponents were ranked in the top 20, including Washburn (No. 8), Emporia State (No. 11), Truman (No. 12), Pittsburg State (No. 13), and Central Missouri (No. 14).
