WARRENSBURG, Mo. -- The University of Nebraska at Omaha volleyball team suffered its second-straight five-set loss in the Central Missouri Challenge, losing to Southeastern Oklahoma State 25-21, 25-22, 15-25, 14-25, 15-12 in UNO's final match of the tournament.
The Mavericks, who lost earlier in the day in five sets to Minnesota State-Moorhead and their third-straight match overall, fell to 4-6 on the season. SOSU improved to 9-4 overall.
Nebraska-Omaha split setting duties between sophomore #Jamie Tooley#, freshman #Emily Myers#, and senior #Annie Rice#. The trio spread out the Maverick offense as four UNO players recorded double-figure kill totals.
Junior #Sara Kampschnieder notched her second double-double of the year with 15 kills and 18 digs. Junior Ellen Thommes# hit .480 while blasting 13 kills and adding a match-high five blocks.
#Kelli Goeser registered 12 kills and four blocks. Redshirt freshman Brittany Hanssen# collected a career-high 10 kills, while adding four blocks.
Freshman #Lizzy Mach# hit .412 with nine kills, just two errors in 17 attempts.
Junior #Kayla Jansen# tied Kampschnieder for the team lead in digs with 18.
The Mavericks held the edge in nearly every statistical category in the match. UNO led in kills (62-50), digs (86-75), total blocks (9.5-6.0), and hitting percentage (.237-.122).
The Mavericks open MIAA play this Wednesday, Sept. 17, when they host Missouri Southern at 7 p.m. in the Sapp Fieldhouse.
