Powers Named Offensive Player of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Senior forward #Jessica Powers# was named offensive player of the week in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association on Tuesday.
The Bellevue, Neb., native netted a pair of goals, including the game winner against MIAA rival Southwest Baptist in UNO's 3-0 win on Oct. 1. The goals were her fifth and sixth of the year.
Powers scored the game winner at 6:29 of the first half. She added a late goal in the 74th minute of the second half. It was less than a minute after #Stephanie Sackett# scored UNO's second goal of the game. Powers took four shots in the match and put three on goal.
Powers is the fourth Maverick to earn player of the week honors this season. #Nicole Baier collected offensive player of the week on Sept. 8 and Sept. 15. Maverick goalkeeper Lauren Fox# was named defensive player of the week on Sept. 22.
UNO returns to the field on Thursday, Oct. 8 when it hosts Emporia State at 4 p.m.
