Four more matches remain on UNO's regular season schedule and the Mavericks will play three of them this week. Wednesday the Mavs (19-10, 9-7 MIAA) host Northwest Missouri State at 7 p.m. at Sapp Fieldhouse. They then go on the road to face Missouri Western (9-20, 2-14 MIAA) on Friday at 7 p.m. and No. 19 Truman (22-10, 10-6 MIAA) Saturday at 6 p.m.
The Mavericks defeated Fort Hays State last week but fell to then-No. 8 Washburn and ninth-ranked Emporia State. All three matches went three sets.
Nebraska-Omaha is ranked 20th in the nation and is sixth in the NCAA South Central Region. The top eight teams in the region at the end of the regular season advance to the NCAA tournament.

Mavericks Seek Another 20-Win Season
The Mavericks are one win shy of their 27th 20-win season in the program's 40th year of competition. Despite playing in the last five NCAA tournaments, 20-win seasons have been rare lately. The Mavericks only had two 20-win sesaons in the last eight years with the last coming in 2006. They did win 20 or more from 1992 to 2000. Head coach Rose Shires had 11 20-win seasons in her first 19 years at UNO.
Goeser Enters 1,000 Kill Club
Senior outside hitter Kelli Goeser earned her 1,000th career kill at UNO Saturday against Emporia State. She ended with nine kills in the match and now 1,003 in her career. She became the 18th member of the 1,000 kill club and the second Maverick this year to join the elite group after Ellen Thommes did so earlier in the season.
Goeser is second on the team with 2.95 kills per set and third with 3.24 points a set. She has 17 double-figure kill matches this year.
Thommes Near The Top In Attack Percentage
Senior middle hitter Ellen Thommes leads the MIAA with a .410 attack percentage and she's on pace to finish with the second highest single-season mark in school history. Her career attack percentage of .346 ranks third all-time at Washburn.
Thommes is also UNO's leader with 3.15 kills a set and 1.02 blocks. She's third in the MIAA in blocks and fourth with 3.94 points a set.
Sophomore Angie Reicks Moving Up In MIAA In Digs
Sophomore libero Angie Reicks moved to sixth in digs in the MIAA last week and she remained in that spot in this week's statistical report. Reicks is No. 6 with 4.28 digs per game and she has 467 this season. She has reached double figures in digs in 23 of 29 matches this year, including each of the last eight.
Myers Enters UNO Top-10 In Career Assists
Sophomore setter Emily Myers moved into the top 10 in career assists at UNO. She's currently ninth with 2,132 in just her second season as UNO's setter. She needs 227 to move to eighth all-time and pass her predecessor, Katie Agnew (2,359 assists from 2004-07). Myers is the ninth player in UNO history to record at least 2,000 assists.
Myers is fourth in the MIAA with 10.96 assists per set. She has had 30 or more assists in 27 of 29 matches this year and she's topped 50 six times. She also has 12 double-doubles this year combining double-figure assist totals with double-figure dig totals.
Ebke First In The MIAA In Aces
Freshman defensive specialist Natalie Ebke remained first in the MIAA with .50 aces per set. Ebke has a total of 55 aces and she holds UNO's top four single-match marks for assists this year, getting five or more four times.
Mavericks Remain 20th In National Poll
The Mavericks remained No. 20 in the AVCA national ranking released Monday. The Mavericks had been No. 16 the previous two weeks before they dropped to 20th last week. UNO is one of six MIAA teams in the top 25 and overall, seven of UNO's 2009 opponents are in the ranking.
The Mavericks were unrated in the preseason and after week one. Their highest ranking this year was 15th on September 28 and October 5.
The Mavericks will play at No. 19 Truman this week. The Bulldogs dropped a spot after being 18th last week.
Mavs Nearly Unbeatable When Winning First Set
Nebraska-Omaha is 18-3 when winning the first set of the match. Conversely, the Mavericks are 1-7 when dropping the opening set.
Two weeks ago they lost twice when winning the opening set. Before that, their only loss when starting with a win came on September 9 in a five-set loss at then-No. 9 Nebraska-Kearney. Their only win after losing set one came on September 18 in a five-set battle with No. 22 Pittsburg State.
Mavericks Look To Stay In Chase For Postseason
The Mavericks were sixth in the most recent NCAA South Central Region ranking, released October 29. Another ranking will be released November 12. The top eight teams in the final ranking will earn a spot in the NCAA region tournament. UNO has been to the last five postseason tournaments and 17 overall. Head coach Rose Shires has led UNO to 10 postseason appearances with a national title in 1996.
About This Week's Opponents
Northwest Missouri State is 12-18 overall and 8th in the MIAA at 4-11. Since snapping a six-match losing streak midway through the year, the Bearcats have gone 3-3. UNO defeated NWMSU, 3-0 on the road earlier in the year. The Mavericks lead the all-time series, 30-6 and they've won 18 of their last 19.
Missouri Western State is 9-20 and last in the MIAA at 2-14. The Griffons two conference wins came against NWMSU and Southwest Baptist. Their win against the Bearcats on October 14 ended an 11-match losing streak. UNO swept the MWSU, 3-0 on October 9 and the Mavs are now 14-0 all-time against the Griffons.
Truman is 22-10 overall and one spot above UNO at fifth in the MIAA with a 10-6 record. The Bulldogs went 2-1 last week with a loss to Pittsburg State. They beat the Mavericks in five sets on October 10 in Omaha. The Mavs lead the all-time series, 13-7.
