Mavericks Solid in UNO Showcase Finale

OMAHA, Neb. - The Mavericks hit .330 in a three-set sweep and kept North Alabama to .086 hitting as they defeated the Lions, 25-15, 25-21, 25-13 in their final match of the UNO Volleyball Showcase Saturday evening at Sapp Fieldhouse.
UNO (4-0) will continue play with four matches next Friday and Saturday at a tournament at Florida Southern.
#Ellen Thommes had 10 kills and just one error to hit .600 while Kelli Goeser# had 11 kills to lead the team.
#Emily Myers# hit .750 with six kills and no errors in eight attempts. She also led the team with 32 assists and added seven digs.
#Angie Reicks# led the Mavs with 14 digs and Thommes led with three blocks.
The Mavericks led the entire way in sets one and three as they hit over .300 in each set and kept UNA (1-3) below .100 in attack percentage.
The Lions led three times in the second set but never by more than two points and an 8-0 run midway through the set gave UNO a 14-8 lead. UNA got within three at 23-20 but #Natalie Ebke# scored UNO's final two kills to secure the sweep.
Goeser led UNO during the weekend with 3.38 kills per set and Thommes hit .480 to lead the team and tournament field. Myers was second among all players at the tournament with 10.92 assists per set.
UNO joined Emporia State as the only two teams to go 4-0 during the Showcase.
