GOLDEN, Colo. - The Nebraska-Omaha soccer team fell to 0-2 on the season with a 2-1 loss against Colorado School of Mines Sunday afternoon at the CSM Soccer Stadium.
Jessica Stark scored at 15:46 of the first period to put the Orediggers (2-0) up 1-0. Scoring was idle until Erin Onat put CSM up 2-0 at 54:12 of the second period on a header shot.
The Mavericks cut the lead to one when sophomore Jerica Kuncl converted a penalty kick in the 63rd minute.
The Orediggers outshot the Mavericks 13-8 and had a 7-3 edge in corner kicks.
Kuncl and Jessica Powers led UNO with two shots each.
Maverick goalkeepers Elizabeth Odorisio and Lauren Fox each played a half in net, giving up a goal apiece. Fox led with three saves.
The Mavericks are back in action Friday, Sept. 4 at the Truman Tournament in Kirksville, Mo. They open against Central Oklahoma at 2 p.m.
