PEORIA, Ill. - Bradley battled back from two one-goal deficits to defeat the UNO men's soccer team 3-2 Sunday afternoon at the Hotels at Grand Prairie Classic.

Nick Miller and Chava Garcia scored first half goals for the Mavericks to give them two separate one-goal leads, but the Braves overwhelmed UNO in the second half and despite a school-record 12 saves by Matt Grosey, were able to scrape out the come-from-behind win.

The Mavs dropped to 1-2 on the season. Bradley, a 2011 NCAA Tournament second round qualifier who started the year ranked 25th and is now receiving votes to be ranked, improved to 2-1-1.

Miller gave UNO a perfect start, knocking home a corner kick in the seventh minute for his first career goal. Giovanni Giattino played in the corner, and Felipe da Silva got to the ball first before Miller put it away for a 1-0 Maverick lead.

Bradley battled back to tie the game in the 13th minute when Desmond Campbell collected a loose ball inside the six-yard box and buried it, assisted by Ross Williams.

But the Mavs had the final say in the first half. Garcia deflected a shot by Vance Rookwood into the net in the 28th minute for his second goal of the season. Rookwood picked up his second assist of the season, and the Mavs led 2-1 at the break. Bradley outshot UNO 10-8 in the first half, but both teams put four on target.

In the second half, Bradley persistently threatened the Mavs until the 63rd minute, when UNO was whistled for a foul in the penalty area. Keegan Balle drilled home the penalty kick to tie the game 2-2. The Braves had outshot UNO 13-0 up to that point in the second half, but it was a penalty kick they needed to break through against Grosey.

Campbell then scored his second goal of the game, this one the game-winner, in the 76th minute, assisted by Williams and Jason Lesch.

Bradley outshot UNO 18-5 in the second half with an 11-0 edge in shots on goal.

Both Miller and Garcia were named to the All-Tournament Team following the tournament. Mercer won the title with a 1-0-1 record and a plus-two goal difference.

The Mavericks host Seattle next Sunday at the UNO Soccer Field at 5 p.m.
