
Men's Soccer Opens Summit League Road Schedule

OMAHA, Neb. - The Omaha men's soccer team opens up the road portion of Summit League play on Saturday, October 4th against Oral Roberts University. Kick-off is set for 7:00 p.m. at Case Soccer Complex on ORU's campus.
The Teams
Omaha (4-3-1, 1-0-0 Summit League) opened conference play last weekend with a 1-0 victory over Eastern Illinois at home. UNO outshot EIU 13-3 overall and held a 5-0 advantage in corner kicks. The lone goal came at the 77:54 mark when Vance Rookwood tucked a left footed shot past the Panther goalkeeper. Joseph Ghitis made one save and recorded his first career shut-out. This season Omaha is led by Vance Rookwood's five goals and ten points. Mark Moulton has one goal and five assists for a total of seven points. Nick Miller has two goals. Logan Mendez has a goal and three assists for five points. Omaha's two goalkeepers have combined for a 4-3-1 overall record with three shut-outs and 23 saves. Their combined goals against average is 1.18. Josh Christensen is 2-1-1 this season with 14 saves and a 0.70 goals against average. Joseph Ghitis is 2-2-0 this season with nine saves and a 1.67 goals against average.
Oral Roberts University (4-3-1, 0-1-0 Summit League) dropped their conference opener to Denver University over the weekend. The Golden Eagles were outshot 16-3 in Denver. Goalkeeper Be LaCourse made four saves in 90 minutes of action. Oral Roberts completed a season sweep of Incarnate Word on Tuesday night. The Golden Eagles' Alex White headed home a free kick in the 89th minute for a 3-2 victory. So far this season, Oral Roberts is led by Johnny Chavez. Chavez has scored four goals and has one assist for nine points. Matthew Rogers has three goals and two assists for eight points. Juan Diego Padilla has two goals for ORU. Ben LaCourse is 3-3-1 on the season with a .712 save percentage. He also has a 2.21 goals against average.
Series History
UNO and Oral Roberts University will meet for the fourth time this weekend. Oral Roberts owns a 2-1 record over Omaha. Last season, the Mavericks lost a 2-1 decision to the Golden Eagles in Omaha. Mark Moulton headed home the Mavericks goal off a corner kick from Nick Miller and Logan Mendez. Oral Roberts scored the game winner with nine seconds remaining in the game. Omaha defeated Oral Roberts in 2012 2-0 in Tulsa.
