Summit League Preseason Men's Tennis Poll Announced

OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha men's tennis team was picked to finish sixth in the 2015 Summit League Preseason Poll released by the conference office on Wednesday. The poll was determined by a vote of the league's head coaches.
Denver was tabbed as the preseason favorite after claiming both the regular season and tournament titles in the first season in the league in 2014. The Pioneers received six-of-seven first place votes for a total of 36 points. Fort Wayne, the 2014 runner-up, claimed the remaining first-place vote and finished second with 30 points. South Dakota State (24), Oral Roberts (20), IUPUI (17), Omaha (14) and Western Illinois (6) rounded out the poll.
UNO returns five letter winners from its 2014 squad, led by Erik Anderson and James McManus. Head coach Tyson Thomas enters his first season at the helm of the program after serving as an assistant coach last season.
Omaha opens the season on Monday, Jan. 19 against Arkansas in Fayetteville, Ark. UNO plays its first home match on Friday, Jan. 23 against Nebraska Wesleyan at the Miracle Hills Tennis Center at 2:00 p.m.
The 2015 Summit League schedule begins Feb. 6 when Omaha hosts Western Illinois and culminates with The Summit League Tennis Championships, hosted by Fort Wayne, April 23-26.
