Omaha Completes Weekend at Bluejay Invite

OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha men's tennis team matched up against Creighton, Doane and North Dakota during the two-day Bluejay Invitational at the Koch Family Tennis Center this weekend.
The Mavericks finished 9-3 in doubles action and 21-6 in singles play over the two days. Razvan Grigorescu went a combined 6-0 in singles and doubles action, and teammate John Ellis finished the weekend with a 4-1 mark.
Omaha def. North Dakota, 11-2
In the doubles matchup with North Dakota, Nathan Reekie and Colin Buckley stopped Alex Misialek and Mark Johnson, 6-1. Grigorescu and Matt Dunn earned a 6-2 win over Dustin Britton and Travis Lau, and Ellis and Luke Moorhead defeated Simon Danyluk and Zach Kantor, 6-4.
UNO took eight of nine singles matches against UND. Dunn and Reekie each won their singles matches, 6-2, 6-2. Grigorescu earned a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Britton, and Moorhead stopped Danyluk, 6-0, 6-3.
Buckley, Sean Padios and Ignace Warson each won close matches. Buckley came away with a 7-5, 7-6 win over Mailes, and Warson defeated Eshan Varma 7-5, 6-4. Padios needed three sets to top Matt Hokanson 0-6, 6-3, 6-4.
Omaha def. Doane, 13-0
Omaha dropped a total of three games in four doubles matches against Doane. Grigorescu and Dunn recorded a 6-0 win over Kristian Kiland and Grayson McCartney. Alex Woodward and Ignace Warson defeated Ignacio Morell and Arcane Boles, 6-1, while Reekie and Buckley beat Aaron Cook and Keagan Hill, 6-2.
The Mavericks did not drop a set as they won nine singles matches against Doane. Moorhead and Biraj Parajuli each lost only one game in singles action, and Grigorescu and Woodward each lost two games. Buckley, Dunn, Ellis, Reekie and Warson each picked up straight set wins.
Creighton def. Omaha, 7-6
The Mavericks split four doubles matches against Creighton and went 4-5 in singles play against the Bluejays. Ellis and Moorhead made quick work of Michael Koch and Daniel Lopez, 6-1, and Grigorescu and Dunn earned a 6-4 win over Brooks Kendall and Harrison Lang.
Grigorescu and Buckley each won three-set matches against Creighton. Grigorescu won the opening set over the Bluejays' Armando Gandini 6-1, before dropping the second set, 6-3. The Omaha freshman took the third set, 6-4, to pick up the win. Buckley dropped his first set to Alex Koca, 6-1, before taking the final two sets, 6-3, 6-2.
Reekie and Warson has straight set wins. Reekie stopped Kendall in straight sets 7-5, 6-4, and Warson defeated Lopez 6-4, 7-6.
