Men's Tennis Announces 2018 Schedule

OMAHA, Neb. – Head coach Tyson Thomas announced Friday the Omaha men's tennis team's 2018 season schedule, which features 11 home matches for the Mavericks.
"We put together a competitive schedule for 2018," Thomas said. "Our conference has become much stronger with the addition of the Drake, Valparaiso and Illinois State so to prepare we have continued to schedule the most difficult non-conference schedule possible. Traveling to five Power Five programs will test the team throughout the season. I am excited to see them rise to that challenge."
Omaha opens the season on the road with Wisconsin (Jan. 20), Northern Illinois (Jan. 26) and Saint Louis (Jan. 27). The Mavericks first home match comes on Feb. 1 against crosstown foe Creighton.
Omaha travels to Des Moines, Iowa, for a neutral site match against New Mexico (Feb. 3) before returning home to open Summit League play against Drake (Feb. 4).
The Mavericks head to Lincoln, Neb., to face Nebraska (Feb. 10) before returning home for a tripleheader on Feb. 11 against Doane, Midland and North Dakota. The Mavericks embark on a five-match road trip starting with two neutral site matches against Alabama Birmingham (Feb. 17) and George Washington (Feb. 18) before visiting Oklahoma State (Feb. 23), Iowa (March 4), Oral Roberts (March 9) and Tulsa (March 11).
Omaha returns home to home UMKC (March 15) before starting a four-match road swing against Lamar (March 19), a doubleheader with Prairie View A&M (March 20) and Arkansas (April 1).
Omaha opens a five-match homestand on April 4 against Valparaiso. The Mavericks host their final home weekend with matches against Denver (April 14), South Dakota State (April 15), Central (IA) (April 15) and Coe College (April 15). They close out the regular season with a road match at Illinois State (April 21).
The Summit League Tournament, hosted by the University of Denver, is set for April 27-28 in Denver, Colo.
