Grigorescu and Reekie Capture Tournament Titles

OMAHA, Neb. –Razvan Grigorescu won the Azusa Pacific Summer Circuit singles championship and teamed with fellow Maverick Nathan Reekie to capture the doubles crown.
Grigorescu started his singles run as the tournament's top seed in the bracket of 64 with his closest match coming in the third round against BYU commit Rishab Sardana. Sardana took the opening set 6-4 before Grigorescu rallied to win the final two sets 6-2, 1-0 (6).
He then topped UCLA commit Eric Hahn in the quarterfinals, 6-3, 6-3, before stopping 4-star prospect Tripp Dillon, 6-0, 6-0, in the semifinals. Grigorescu upended Denver's Pedro Fernandez Del Valle in the finals, 6-4, 6-1.
Grigorescu and Reekie were the tournament's No. 2 seeds, reaching the championship match after saving three match points against No. 6 seeds Andrew Yip and Phuc Huynh in the semifinals. The duo then upset top seeded Humberto Lopez and Peter Clemente, 8-3, to claim the championship.
"I am thrilled to see Razvan and Nate competing this summer," said head coach Tyson Thomas. "The California ITA events have a lot of talented up and coming players and this match experience will help them hit the ground running this semester."
