OMAHA, Neb. – Amanda Rapaduski and Margaret LaVigne scored the first Maverick goals of the season while Omaha fell 3-2 in the season opener vs. Illinois State on Friday night at Caniglia Field.

How It Happened

The Redbirds snagged an early lead in the seventh minute, scoring off a deflected save.
Illinois State doubled its lead in the 17^th minute when Mikayla Unger put one into the back of the net.
Rapaduski received a quick pass from Laurin Mertz and fired a dribbler inside the left post to cut the deficit in half at 2-1 in the 32^nd minute.
The Redbirds stretched the lead to two in the 81^st minute with Del Fava's second goal of the match.
Omaha kept the match alive when LaVigne struck a header into the top right corner of the frame off the corner kick by Jaden Thiem.
