OMAHA, Neb. - The Mavericks finish the weekend with a split following a 2-1 loss to Kansas City. The Roos recorded the game winner in the 67th minute to snap Omaha's three-match win streak.

With the loss, the Mavericks fall to 6-6-2 overall and 3-2 in league play.

How It Happened

Kansas City took an early lead in the first half with a goal on the first shot of the match. Kassi Ginther took control of a loose ball knocked down by Omaha. She used a long, high shot to put one over Mia Reedtz Rehde Olesen in the third minute of action.
Grace Ostergaard nearly tied the match a minute and a half later, but Mackenzie Caldwell made her first save of the match.
Grace Thede and Cece Behrens each recorded shots on target in the first two minutes, while Marissa Gohr had back-to-back attempts for the second straight match. None would find the back of the net.
Avarie Howard finally connected for Omaha in the 43rd minute. Sophia Green popped a ball back to Grace Crocket who sent a long ball down the field. Howard gave chase and broke through two UMKC defenders and put the equalizer away. The match was tied 1-1 heading into the break.
The Roos and Mavericks recorded shots on goal in the first six minutes before UMKC scored on their next attempt. Lillie Fields sent a pass into the box that was headed by Morgan McLaughlin to Sarah Karloff who headed in the second goal.
Gohr, Daves, and Green put shots on target before time expired, but the Roos hung on for a 2-1 win.

Gohr led the Mavericks with five shots. She took three on goal.
Thede and Erland each tallied three, while Howard added a pair.
Omaha led with 20 shots to seven and recorded a season-high 12 shots on goal.
Reedtz played a full game in goal. She made one save and falls to 4-4-2 on the year.
