Eight Mavericks Combine For 10 All-League Nods

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The Omaha men's soccer team took home 10 All-League nods, the league announced Wednesday morning. Four players were tabbed second team, four honorable mention, and two newcomer.
Gonzalo Cuevas, Kenji Mboma Dem, Lute Lillo Portero, and Tevin Rochester were named to the All-Summit Second Team. Thore Boehm, Theo Klein, Mathis Pilon St-Louis and Kyle Reese are honorable mentions. Cuevas and Klein also earned All-Newcomer honors.
Cuevas has played and started in 14 matches this season logging nearly 1,200 minutes as a defender. He has one goal and three assists to combine for five points. Cuevas recorded a season-best two assists in the season opener vs. Rutgers. His first career goal came against Creighton. Cuevas helped the Mavericks to four shutouts this season.
Mboma Dem is tied second in the Summit League with 20 points this season with 14 of those coming in league play. In Omaha's first win this season, Mboma Dem set a career-high five points vs. Oakland with two goals and one assist. He is second on the league's single-game charts this season for that performance. The junior forward has five additional multi-point performances, including four points last weekend vs. Eastern Illinois with a goal and two assists.
Portero has made the last eight starts in goal for Omaha. He recorded four shutouts over that stretch all against league opponents. Portero leads the league with a .53 goals against average and has the best save percentage at .833. He made a season-high six saves vs. Denver and tallied another five at Oral Roberts.
Rochester is second on the team with 14 points this year. He recorded assists in back-to-back matches vs. Drake and Bradley, while his first goal of the season came at UTRGV. Rochester had three-point performances with a goal and assist in league matches vs. Southern Indiana and Lindenwood. The Owabanks native capped the regular season with a career-high two goals vs. Eastern Illinois, including the game winner.
Boehm made 14 starts over 15 appearances for Omaha this season. He finished the year with three points on one goal and an assist. Boehm assisted on the game winner in a 1-0 shutout vs. San Diego State and netted his first goal vs. Bradley in a 2-1 win. Boehm finished the regular season with 11 total shots.
Klein made 14 starts in his debut season with the Mavericks and sits third on the team with 13 points. Klein recorded his first career point vs. Oakland with an assist and followed up with his first goal vs. Drake a week later. Klein became the second Maverick with a five-point performance with two goals and an assist at Southern Indiana. He added another four points on a pair of goals vs. Lindenwood. He tallied the game winner in both matches.
St-Louis started all 14 matches he was available for this year. Following the opener, he put together a four-match scoring streak with goals vs. Oakland, San Diego State, Drake, and Bradley. Three of those were game winners. St-Louis capped the regular season with goals in two straight games vs. Lindenwood and Kansas City.
Reese started 14 matches at defender for the Mavericks this season logging over 1,100 minutes on the pitch. He played a full 90 minutes 10 times this year. Reese helped Omaha to four shutouts, including three vs. league opponents.
