Men's Tennis Announces 2023 Schedule and Captains

The Omaha Men's Tennis team has announced their 2023 Spring Schedule as well as team captains in Graduate Students Davis Lawley and Hugo Piles Ballester.
The Mavericks kickoff their championship season on January 21st on the road against Oklahoma State. This season's schedule is highlighted by eight home matches all to be played at Miracle Hill Tennis Center except the April 1 match against Marquette. That match will be played at Millard North High School.
"As always, we schedule tough here at Omaha. I anticipate there will be multiple teams that are nationally ranked at some point during the season on our schedule. My guys always like to compete against the best," Omaha head coach Matt Barlow said. "I believe this will be the most competitive home schedule we have put together including 3 Big East opponents, providing community members a great chance to come out to support and watch high level tennis. "
Omaha's conference slate features North Dakota, Oral Roberts and Denver. Omaha defeated Oral Roberts last season in their regular season finale.
Lawley and Ballester have been a staple of the men's tennis program over the course of each of their tenure's. They have combined for over 150 wins in a Maverick uniform.
"Davis and Hugo are great examples of what student-athletes should strive to be during their college careers," Barlow said. "They have both played a vital role in the transition and establishment of what our team culture is like today. I truly appreciate who they are and what they have done for our program. I am looking forward to watching them lead and guide our younger guys this spring and finish their careers off on a high note."
