Kametani Signs with Union Omaha

OMAHA, Neb. – Former Omaha men's soccer player Hugo Kametani was announced as a new signee with Union Omaha, the team announced Friday afternoon. Kametani played two seasons for the Mavericks wrapping up his career in the 2021 fall season.
"It's a game changer to have a high-quality, well run, well coached professional team in Omaha," said head coach Bob Warming. "Hugo is a special person and special player. I am so happy for him to have this opportunity, and I love that I will continue to be able to see him play!"
Kametani was named the program's first All-American following the 2020 season. He was also named the Summit League Newcomer of the Year, First Team All-Summit, and All-Newcomer.
The Kashima, Japan native tied the single-season scoring record in 2020 with nine goals scored. He netted a pair for Omaha in the first round of the NCAA Tournament helping the Mavericks to their first tournament win in program history with an upset over No. 23 UNC-Greensboro.
Kametani finished his career with 11 goals, one assist, 79 shots, 41 shots on goal, and three game winners.
