
Mavs Fall in Regular Season Finale to Rockhurst

KANSAS CITY, Mo.- Creighton junior transfer Kelly Fitzpatrick scored twice Sunday to lead Rockhurst to a 2-0 win over the Mavs in a key Central Region matchup. No. 8 UNO fell to 14-2-2 and will need a strong performance in next weekend's North Central Conference tournament to have a chance to host the four-team NCAA regional tournament. The Mavs were the top team in the Central heading into the week. Rockhurst jumped to 11-5 and sits at No. 6 in the region.
Sophomore goalkeeper Amy Price suffered just her third loss in her career and the Mavs suffered their second shutout loss of the season, tying a record, and their fourth shutout overall.
The Mavs will have a chance to avenge their first loss of the season when they face North Dakota in the semifinal of the NCC tournament, 2 p.m., Friday. Minnesota State, Mankato, the host school, will face South Dakota State in the opener. The championship is set for 1 p.m. Saturday and NCAA parings will be announced the following Monday at 4 p.m. The Mavs are three-time defending NCC champs.
