Mavs Claim Top Spot in National Ranking

After shutting out their first four opponents and averaging 4.5 goals per game, the Mavs moved into the top spot in the NSCAA/adidas national ranking released Monday. Defending national champion Christian Brothers (Tenn.) fell out of first after managing a tie to then-third-ranked Northern Kentucky last Friday. NKU then fell on Sunday to unranked Tusculum College (Tenn.) and fell completely out of the polls. Tusculum (3-0-0) moved into the No. 8 spot and CBU took the Mavs' former spot at No. 2. Tusculum and CBU will play each other Monday night. The Mavs (4-0-0) had been No. 2 since finishing as runners up in the NCAA II tournament last year and have been in the top five for elevan weeks straight now.
