Beale, Splittgerber Earn NCC Tourney MVP Honors

Brandie Beale and Jane Splittgerber were named the offensive and defensive MVP's for the North Central Conference Tournament that was held last weekend in Omaha. The Mavericks went 2-0 in the tournament and captured its fourth NCC crown.
Beale, a freshman from Independence, Mo., recorded a hat trick in the Mavericks 4-1 semifinal victory over Minnesota State, Mankato. In the tournament final, Beale scored the second and final goal to help seal UNO's 2-0 win over North Dakota. Last week, Beale was recognized as the NCC freshman player of the year.
Splittgerber, a junior from Omaha, came into friday's semifinal game after a red card to the Mavs' other goalkeeper and held Mankato to one goal. In the final versus the Sioux, Splittgerber made two saves, as the Mavs blanked N.D. Saturday's start versus North Dakota was Splittgerbers second-career start.
The Mavericks are 17-3-1 and will travel to Kirksville, Mo. and will play Southwest Baptist at 2:30 p.m. on Friday in the first round of the NCAA Division II women's soccer tournament.
