Shires Completes Coaching Staff

Guy Fish has been named second assistant volleyball coach at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. The announcement was made today by Maverick head volleyball coach Rose Shires.
Fish has over 10 years of coaching experience at the collegiate, junior club, and high school levels.
Between 1999 through 2001, Fish served as coach and recruiting coordinator for Arizona East Valley Juniors in Phoeniz, Az., where he helped lead East Valley to top 10 finishes at the USA Junior Nationals and at the Las Vegas Invitational.
Fish was the head coach for Marcos DeNiza High School in Tempe, Az. in 2000 where he was named Central Region Coach of the Year after guiding his team to a 28-7 record and and a top-10 finish in the Arizona 5A state championships.
Fish served as an assistant coach at Division I Eastern Washington University from 1996 to 1998. He also had coaching stints at Western Washington University, Edmonds Community College, and for the Spokane Splash Volleyball Club.
"Guy will be an exceptional addition to our staff," said Shires. "He has a tremendous amount of volleyball knowlege and has coached at a high level."
A 1997 graduate of Eastern Washington, Fish earned his bachelor of science degree in organzational communication. While at Eastern Washington, he also completed coursework for his master's degree in athletic administration.
Fish currently owns and operates his own company, Zoom Athletic Consultants, which designs and delivers successful team-building seminars and workshops.
While coaching at Nebraska-Omaha, Fish will be pursuing his master's in business administration (MBA).
The Mavericks begin the 2004 season in Florence, Ala., when they visit defending national champion North Alabama on Thursday, Aug. 26 at 7 p.m.
