Mavs Defeat Washburn Lady Blues 3-0

Topeka, Kan.---UNO outlasted Washburn defeating the Lady Blues 3-0. Maverick scoring did not begin until the 31:48 minute mark when Beth McGill converted a penalty kick, her ninth goal of the year, to give UNO the early lead. Junior defender Meghan Pile scored her first goal of the season and the second of her career on a rebound off a corner kick at the 58:08 minute mark. A late goal by Tricia Braziel on a long pass the middle from freshman Ali Portell rounded out the scoring for the Mavs.
Junior Amy Price and freshman Ellen Peterson combined for the shutout victory, the third for the team this year.
Since beginning the season 2-2, UNO has a 6-game unbeaten streak(7-2-1).
Up next for the Mavs is in-state opponent Wayne State on Tuesday Sept. 28, game time set for 4 p.m.
