Reicks, Christensen Lead UNO to Sweep Over Bearcat

OMAHA, Neb. -- Senior outside hitter Christina Reicks and junior middle blocker Carlie Christensen combined for 26 kills to lead the 21st-ranked UNO Maverick volleyball team to a 3-0 (30-27, 30-20, 30-23) sweep over visiting Northwest Missouri State before 794 fans Tuesday night at the Sapp Fieldhouse.
The Mavericks improved to 13-5 on the season while the Bearcats fell to 8-13 overall.
Reicks recorded her team-leading 12th double-double of the season with 15 kills and 16 digs, to go along with two blocks. Christensen hit .389 while pounding 11 kills in addition to three blocks.
Freshman middle blocker Ellen Thommes added nine kills and a match-high five blocks, while junior rightside hitter Nicole McLeod hit .438 with eight kills, one error, in 16 attempts.
Junior setter Katie Agnew dished out 46 assists while guiding UNO to a .284 hitting percentage. The Mavericks held NWMSU to a .153 hitting clip.
Senior libero Stacie Wemhoff played solid defensively, tying Reicks with a match-high 16 digs.
As a team, Nebraska-Omaha held an 8-3 advantage in blocks and outdug the Bearcats 57-56.
The Mavericks will resume conference action on Saturday, Oct. 7, when they host Minnesota State, Mankato in a 6 p.m. match at the Sapp Fieldhouse.
