Mavericks Host Lady Blues, Bearcats

OMAHA, Neb. – The University of Nebraska at Omaha soccer team will return home this week with matches against Washburn on Oct. 23 at 4 p.m. and Northwest Missouri State on Oct. 25 at 1 p.m.
Last Time Out
No. 25 Truman State ended UNO's two-game shutout streak Monday with a 4-1 win in Kirksville, Mo. Bulldog forward Jessica Wiegert scored three goals to lead the Truman State offense. Maverick senior midfielder #Tara Wegehaupt# netted the lone goal for UNO, her first score of the 2008 season.
Scouting Washburn
The Lady Blues (10-5-1, 6-4-0) enter the week on a six-game winning streak, outscoring its opponents 13-4 and blanking four opponents during the streak. Offensively, Washburn is led by Jessica Mainz and Lauren Henry who have each scored six goals. In goal, Jenny Persons is tied for second in the MIAA with five shutouts and has logged a 0.28 GAA in seven starts.
Scouting Northwest Missouri State
The Bearcats (7-6-2, 3-6-2 MIAA) are coming off a 0-3-1 mark since their 2-1 upset of the then-ranked No. 4 Mavericks on Oct. 4. Andrea Tritz and Holly Ramaeker lead the Bearcats offensively with six goals and two assists each. Kira Lazenby has started all but one match in goal, compiling a 0.99 GAA.
The Series
Thursday's match will be just the fifth time Washburn and Nebraska-Omaha will meet on the soccer pitch. UNO holds a 2-1-1 advantage in the all-time series with the Lady Blues. Washburn beat UNO 4-3 earlier this season for its first-ever win against the Mavs.
UNO leads the all-time series record with Northwest Missouri State, 5-1-0. The Bearcats' last trip to Omaha came in the 2006 season, a 7-1 win for the Mavericks.
The Coaches
Head coach Don Klosterman has compiled a 166-37-7 overall record as the only soccer coach in UNO history. Under his direction, UNO has advanced to at least the NCAA Quarterfinals in six straight seasons, including the 2005 National Championship. Klosterman also has been named the National Coach of the Year twice (2002, 2005).
Tim Collins enters his sixth season as the Lady Blues head coach and has compiled an overall record of 55-41-20. Tracy Hoza has recorded a 28-52-12 mark in her fifth season at Northwest Missouri State.
Next Week
The Mavs will make their final road trip of the regular season next week when they travel to Joplin, Mo. to take on Missouri Southern (4-9-0, 2-8-0 MIAA). UNO topped the Lions 4-1 earlier this year at the UNO Soccer Field.
