Mavericks Host Mary on Saturday

The University of Nebraska at Omaha soccer team will conclude the non-conference portion of their schedule Saturday when they host Mary at 1 p.m. at the UNO Soccer Field.
Last Week
UNO (1-0) opened the 2008 soccer season with a 2-0 win against Hastings last Sunday. After a scoreless first half, a pair of freshmen, Becca Swanson and Jerica Kuncl, each netted goals in the second half.
The Lady Marauder's (0-3) have a tough schedule to start the season with eight of their first nine games away from home. Mary has had early season losses to Mesa State, Colorado University of Colorado Springs and nationally ranked Mesa State.
The Series
The Mavericks and Lady Marauder's are meeting for just the second time in school history. UNO won the only match-up between the two schools by a score of 5-0 on a neutral site in Grand Forks, N.D. back in 2006.
The Coaches
Head coach Don Klosterman has compiled a 158-33-7 overall record as the only soccer coach in UNO history. Under the direction of Klosterman, UNO has advanced to at least the quarterfinals in six straight seasons, including the 2005 National Championship. Klosterman has also been named the National Coach of the Year two times (2002, 2005) and has claimed six NCC Championships.
Levi Evans is in his fifth season as the head coach for Mary. Evans guided his squad to a 16-7 record last year and a berth in the NCAA II regional tournament.
Next Week
The Mavs will hit the road for the first time this season when open play in their new conference, the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association. UNO, the pre-season favorites in the MIAA, will take on Missouri Western on Sept. 11 at 7 p.m. and Truman State on Sept. 13 at 12 p.m.

In the NSCAA/adidas Division II Top 25 poll released on Sept. 2, Nebraska-Omaha is ranked no. 19.
