After going 2-1 last week the No. 16 Mavericks will play a key conference match-up at No. 4 Central Missouri Thursday at Warrensburg, Mo., at 7:15 p.m. Nebraska-Omaha (17-5) is third in the MIAA at 7-2 while UCM (23-3) leads the league with a 9-1 record.
UNO defeated Northwest Missouri and Missouri Western by 3-0 scores last week before falling to Truman, 3-2. Central Missouri is on a 15-match winning streak and hasn't lost since its conference-opener against Pittsburg State on September 11.

Thommes Continues Dominance On Team And In MIAA
Senior middle blocker Ellen Thommes was first on the team and second in the MIAA coming into the week with a .432 attack percentage and she was nearly dead even with Mollie Lacy from Washburn. She's sixth in the league and first on the team with 3.31 kills a set and she's first on the team and third in the league with 1.07 blocks a set.
Thommes has reached double figures in kills in 17 of the 22 matches and she's hit .400 or better 14 times. She has had five or more blocks six times with a school-record tying 14 blocks on September 9 at Nebraska-Kearney.
Thommes became the 17th member of UNO's 1,000 kill club earlier this year and with 275 this season, she has 1,162 in her four years to rank 13th in UNO history. She needs 93 more to move into the top 10.
Myers Third In The MIAA In Assists
Sophomore setter Emily Myers is third in the MIAA with 11.10 assists per set. She has had 30 or more assists in 21 of 22 matches this year and she's topped 50 six times. She also has nine double-doubles this year combining double-figure assist totals with double-figure dig totals. Four of her last six matches have been double-doubles.
Ebke First In The MIAA In Aces
Freshman defensive specialist Natalie Ebke is first in the MIAA with .59 aces per set. Ebke has a total of 49 aces with a serve percentage of .893 for this season. Ebke had five aces against Truman on Saturday and she holds UNO's top four single-match marks for assists this year.
Mavericks Fall A Spot In National Poll
The Mavericks fell from No. 15 to No. 16 in the AVCA national ranking released Monday. UNO is one of five MIAA teams in the top 25 and overall, seven of UNO's 2009 opponents are in the ranking.
Home Winning Streak Comes To An End
The Mavericks started the year 12-0 at home before falling in Sapp Fieldhouse for the first time last Saturday against then-No. 21 Truman, 3-2. UNO is hitting .274 as a team while holding opponents to a .150 hitting percentage. Eight of their wins have been 3-0 sweeps.
About This Week's Opponent
Central Missouri enters Thursday's match at 22-3 and 9-1 in the MIAA. The Jennies have won their past 15 matches and eighteen of their wins this year have been 3-0 sweeps, including 11 during their winning streak.
Coming Up Next
The Mavericks will be busy next week with matches next Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday against Missouri Southern, Pittsburg State, and Southwest Baptist, respectively. The Mavs will be home for the Missouri Southern game Wednesday at 5 p.m. at Sapp Fieldhouse.
