OMAHA, Neb. - The UNO soccer team improved to 2-1-0 in MIAA action and 2-3-0 overall by shutting out Washburn, 4-0 at UNO Soccer Field on Thursday.
Leading the way for the Mavs, junior midfielder #Becca Swanson# netted a pair of goals, her first scores of the season.
At the 4:33 mark, Swanson took a Hilary Horvatic pass into the box and fired it past the outstretched arms of Washburn goalkeeper Ashley Klone.
Swanson netted her second goal of the game at 50:56 by stealing a pass from a Lady Blue defender and scoring on a shot from just outside the box.
Freshman midfielders #Megan Kingston and Monica Bosiljevac# added the final two goals for the Mavericks.
Kingston's score came on an unassisted shot from just outside the box at 54:53. Bosiljevac netted a penalty kick at 63:34 to put the Mavs up, 4-0.
Senior goalkeeper #Lauren Fox# had three saves in the shutout. She was relieved in the 73rd minute by freshman #Katelyn Tschida#.
The Mavericks outshot the Lady Blues 15-3, dropping Washburn to 0-2-0 in MIAA play.
UNO will continue MIAA play by hosting the University of Central Missouri on Sunday at 12 p.m.
