OMAHA, Neb.- The University of Nebraska at Omaha soccer team (0-0-0, 0-0-0 MIAA) will kick off the 2010 campaign with a road trip to Oklahoma for a pair of non-conference matches against Central Oklahoma and Midwestern State University in the Broncho Invitational. The Mavericks will face Central Oklahoma on Sept. 3 at 4 p.m. and Midwestern State on Sept. 5 at 12 p.m. Both contests will be held at Tom Thompson field in Edmond, Oklahoma.
UNO In Season Openers
The Mavericks hold a 5-6 record all-time in season-opening contests and are 1-5 when opening the season on the road. UNO dropped its opener last season to Metro State, 3-1 in Denver, Colo. Opening against Central Oklahoma in 2005, the Mavericks lost 3-2 at Thompson field.
The Series
The opener will be the third ever meeting between UCO and UNO with both teams tied in the series at one game a piece. UNO posted a 5-2 victory last season against the Bronchos on the road in the Truman State Classic on Sept. 4. Only meeting once before this season, UNO holds a one game edge against Midwestern State. In 2005, the Mavericks defeated the Mustangs in the Central Oklahoma Invitational, 1- 0.
Scouting The Bronchos and Mustangs
Central Oklahoma finished 2009 with a record of 14-6-3, second in the Lone Star Conference. UCO returns 13 letter winners, including five starters from last year's roster. Midwestern State is picked to finish just behind Central Oklahoma at No. 3 in the 2010 Lone Star Conference preseason poll. The Mustangs return 16 letter winners and six starters from last year's team which finished with a record of 13-5-2.
The Coaches
Head coach Don Klosterman has compiled a 183-45-9 overall record as the only soccer coach in UNO history. Under the direction of Klosterman, UNO has advanced to eight-straight NCAA Tournament appearances (2002-2009). In those appearances, Klosterman guided the Mavericks to at least the quarterfinals in six straight seasons (2002-2007) and led the team to a 2005 National Championship. During his tenure, he has earned the National Coach of the Year honors two times (2002, 2005).
The Bronchos are coached by Mike Cook, who holds a record of 188-60-15 at Central Oklahoma. As the program's only head coach, Cook has led UCO to six regular season titles and seven national playoff appearances.
Midwestern State is coached by Greenville, Ohio, native Jeff Trimble. In his 12th season at MSU, he has an overall record of 131-71-18 and a 13-5-2 record last season.

Following back-to-back road games, UNO will come home for its first Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association game against Missouri Western on Sept. 9. The Mavericks are 2-0 all-time against the Griffons, defeating them on the road last season 1-0.
