The UNO women's soccer team (1-11, 1-1) hits the road this weekend for a pair of matches against its closest Summit League foes. On Friday, the Mavericks head to Vermillion, S.D. to face South Dakota (1-8-3, 0-1-1) at 4 p.m. Then on Sunday, UNO travels south for a 1 p.m. match against Kansas City (4-6-3, 1-1-0). The Mavs picked up their first win of the season last Friday against Fort Wayne, 1-0, and Omaha will now be looking to get Head Coach Don Klosterman his 200th win at UNO. UNO leads the all-time series with South Dakota 13-0. The Mavs and Coyotes met in the preseason earlier this year, with UNO taking a 2-1 win over USD at the UNO Soccer Field. In that match, the Mavs rallied from a 1-0 deficit with goals from Katlyn Nimtz and Monica Bosiljevac. UMKC won the only meeting between the 'Roos and Mavs in Kansas City, 2-1, on Sept. 24, 2011.

After an 0-10 record in non-conference play, it only took the Mavericks one game to win in The Summit League, knocking off Fort Wayne 1-0 on Sept. 28. Senior forward Danielle Archuleta scored in the ninth minute to give the Mavs their first lead of the season. Archuleta's team-high fourth goal of the season turned out to be the difference in UNO's first win of the year.

Don Klosterman will take aim at a coaching milestone when he leads UNO into its 14th season in 2012. The only head coach the University of Nebraska Omaha has had, Klosterman has a 199-70-12 record, just one win from win number 200 in his outstanding career at UNO. The two-time Division II National Coach of the Year has led the Mavericks to the national semifinals four times, culminating in the 2005 NCAA Division II National Championship. Assistant coach Ted Anderson is in his 14th season at UNO and has been with Klosterman every step of the way.

OMAHA, Neb. - The UNO women's soccer team battled defending Summit League champion Oakland valiantly for 90 minutes, but fell 1-0 in a nailbiter at the UNO Soccer Field on Sunday afternoon. After falling down a goal in the first half, the Mavs controlled possession after halftime and threatened the Oakland net numerous times but were unable to find the equalizer. Oakland struck for its goal in the 16th minute. Abigail Haelewyn got free on the right side of the box and took a pass from Meghan Reynolds. Haelewyn slotted the ball into the left side of the net from 14 yards out past goalkeeper Sarah Warren, who entered the game in the 14th minute after Meaghan Clark left with an injury.

The Coyotes will be playing at home for the first time since Sept. 2, when they earned a 3-2 win over College of Saint Mary. South Dakota has spent the past seven games on the road and recorded an 0-5-2 record. South Dakota has failed to score in its past three games but earned a scoreless tie at IUPUI on Sept. 28. USD is 0-1-1 in The Summit League this season. In addition to its tie at IUPUI, the Coyotes lost at Western Illinois 2-0.

UMKC is led by Taylor Bare, who has five goals and one assist for 11 points. Hunter Wagoner and Hannah Chadick each have two goals and three assists. UMKC has started three different goalies this season. Nina Tzianos has started eight of the 13 games, however, and has a 1.68 goals against average and .727 save percentage. UMKC is 1-1 in conference play with a 4-1 loss at Western Illinois and 1-0 win at IUPUI.
