The Omaha men's soccer team will look to build on their two-game unbeaten streak against an undefeated Milwaukee team on Wednesday at the UNO Soccer Field at 4 p.m. Live stats will be available for the match at OMavs.com.
The Teams
Omaha (2-5-1, 1-0-0 Summit League) is coming off a 2-1 win over Western Illinois last Saturday at the UNO Soccer Field to begin Summit League play. The Mavs lead The Summit League with 15.4 shots per game, nearly three more than the next closest competitor (Denver, 12.8). The Mavs' eight goals are tied for third in the conference and their 52 corner kicks are tops in the league. Chava Garcia and Vance Rookwood lead the Mavs with six points. Garcia has one goal and four assists, while Rookwood has a team-best three goals. Both have earned Summit League Offensive Player of the Week honors. Defensively, the Mavs have a 1.56 goals against average to rank third overall. Senior goalie Matt Grosey and junior center back Felipe da Silva anchor the Maverick defense. Both have been named Summit League Defensive Player of the Week this season.
Milwaukee (7-0-1, 1-0-0 Horizon League) is unbeaten this season and riding a six-game win streak. The Panthers were ranked 27th by CollegeSoccerNews.com in Monday's Top 30 poll. Sophomore Aaron Horvat was named CSN's National Player of the Week following his four-goal performance in a 5-3 win at Detroit last Saturday. Entering Saturday's game at Detroit, Milwaukee had allowed just three goals through seven games. Junior midfielder Laurie Bell leads the Panthers with five goals and 11 points. Horvat has four goals, and Robbie Boyd and Rami Younes both have two goals and four assists. Freshman Liam Anderson has played every minute in goal and has a .824 save percentage with a 0.72 goals against average.

OMAHA, Neb. - Vance Rookwood scored the game-winning goal with 16:38 left, and the Omaha men's soccer team earned a big 2-1 win over defending Summit League champion Western Illinois Saturday at the UNO Soccer Field. On a windy day, Western Illinois broke the scoreless deadlock in the 25th minute on a goal by Drew Edmond. The Mavericks battled back to tie the match in the 39th minute on Mark Moulton's first career goal. Then in the 74th minute, Chava Garcia played a square ball to Joe Marinkovich 25 yards from goal. Marinkovich took a shot, but it was deflected right to Rookwood in the center of the box. Rookwood collected it, turned and fired it home for the 2-1 lead. It was his team-high third goal of the season and second game-winner.
