The Omaha volleyball team completes its last conference road trip of the year with two matches this weekend. The Mavericks face IUPUI on Friday, Nov. 7 at 6 p.m. (CT) in Indianapolis, Ind., then travel to Fort Wayne on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 6 p.m. (CT) in Fort Wayne, Ind. Scouting the IUPUI Jaguars
IUPUI, which is second in the conference standings, enters the week with a record of 15-11 (9-2 Summit League) after securing a 3-0 sweep at South Dakota State last Friday. The Jaguars are led by Kaitlyn Hickey's 3.61 kills per set, which ranks fifth in the Summit League, while Beth Howard's 4.42 digs per set are third among conference players. Head coach Steve Payne is in his 17th season at IUPUI and holds a career record of 225-293.
IUPUI leads the all-time series against Omaha, 5-0. The two schools last played on Sept. 26, when the Jaguars took a 3-2 decision at Sapp Fieldhouse.
Scouting the Fort Wayne Mastodons
Fort Wayne enters the weekend with a record of 11-16 (5-7 Summit League) after sweeping Oral Roberts, 3-0, on Sunday in Tulsa, Okla. The Mastodons are led by Emily Spencer, who leads the Summit League in kills per set (4.71), total kills (485) and total attacks (1,230). IPFW is one of the top blocking squads in the conference, as it ranks first with 2.56 blocks per set and 264 total team blocks. Head coach Steve Florio is in his first year at Fort Wayne, and he has a career record of 11-16.
IPFW leads the all-time series against Omaha, 6-0. The two schools last played on Oct. 12, when the Mastodons earned a 3-2 win at Sapp Fieldhouse.

As such, the Mavericks, who may not officially be listed in the NCAA Division I stats release, are unofficially ranked 30th in the country with 238 total blocks, and they are 59th nationally with 2.40 blocks per set. Individually, junior Megan Schmale is 58th among Division I blockers with 108 total blocks.
The Block Party: Summit League Style
Omaha claims four of the top 10 spots on the Summit League's individual blocking leaders list. Redshirt freshman middle blocker Amanda Conlin is third with 1.19 blocks per set, junior middle blocker Megan Schmale is fourth (1.09), junior setter/rightside hitter Michaela Schimmer is fifth (0.97) and junior middle blocker Diane Banderas is eighth (0.94). Schmale also ranks first in the conference with 102 block assists and is second with 108 total blocks.
As a team, Omaha leads the league with 418 block assists and is second for total blocks (238) and blocks per set (2.40).
Last Time Out: Oral Roberts Defeats Mavericks, 3-1
Omaha made its first visit to Oral Roberts on Tuesday night, falling 3-1 at the Aerobics Center. Freshman setter Sydney O'Shaughnessy recorded her sixth straight double-double with 34 assists and 10 digs, which also marked her team-leading 15th double-double of the season. O'Shaughnessy also had four kills and two blocks.
Junior middle blocker Megan Schmale had a team-high 11 kills, hitting .643 for the night while adding a pair of blocks. Junior outside hitter Kelley Wollak also had a double-figure performance, finishing with 10 kills.
Junior middle blocker Amy Taylor totaled a team-leading four blocks with four kills, and freshman outside hitter Mackenzie Horkey added eight kills and six digs.
