Shires Signs Gdowski to NLI for 2015

OMAHA, Neb. -- Fremont native Gessica Gdowski has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Omaha volleyball program in 2015, head coach Rose Shires announced Wednesday.
Gdowski, a 6-1 outside hitter, played four years for Coach Rick Hughes at Fremont High School. A three-year team captain, she has earned all-state honorable mention recognition three straight years and all-conference accolades twice.
In her senior season, Gdowski helped the Tigers to a district runner-up finish. As a junior, she finished with a team-leading 265 kills and 30 service aces. She hit .251 and was second on her squad with 292 digs, in addition to 34 blocks.
Gdowski has also lettered two years in basketball and two years in track & field. She plays club volleyball for the River City Juniors, a program which won the gold championship in its age division at the JVA World Challenge in Houston last year.
Also an outstanding student, Gdowski is a member of the National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society, as well as an Academic All-State selection.
"Gessica is a high-level athlete who will compete well in the Summit League," Shires said. "She will bring much-needed height to the left side. Gessica is a six-rotation player who has exceptional ball control, and we are very excited to have her join our emerging program."
