Mavericks Visit Creighton, North Dakota

OMAHA, Neb. - The Omaha women's soccer team visits Creighton (9/4) and North Dakota (9/6) this weekend. Start time for Friday's match at Morrison Stadium is 5 p.m., while Sunday's kick-off in Grand Forks is 12 p.m.
Looking Back
- Omaha had to play from behind in both games last weekend, but came away with a 1-0-1 record.
- On Friday, UNO tied Northern Iowa 1-1. The Panthers took the lead in the 13th minute, but Omaha's Lydia Holtmann scored the equalizer in the 43rd minute.
- On Sunday, Omaha defeated Northern Illinois, 2-1. NIU took the lead in the 10th minute, but UNO used second half goals from Kyla Booker and Marin Dregelid to earn the victory.
Maverick Quick Hits
- Dregelid's goal: In the 78th minute against Northern Illinois sophomore Marin Dregelid scored off a pass from Hannah Wampler. The goal not only marked the first goal of her career, but also secured Omaha's first win of 2015.
- Schochenmaier saves: Sophomore goalkeeper Katlyn Schochenmaier was pressed into action late in the first half against Northern Illinois. Schochenmaier made three saves, including two point blank shots in the final five minutes of the game on Sunday.
- Enough goals to go around: Dregelid, Kyla Booker, and Lydia Holtmann each scored goals for Omaha this weekend.
- Ironman Performance: Junior defender Ava Doetsch has been on the pitch for all 290 minutes this season. She is the only member of the Mavericks not to be subbed out this season.
- Veteran Vibe: Omaha returns one of the most experienced lineups in the country this fall. The Mavericks bring back 11 starters from a season ago. Included are Summit League Defensive Player of the Year Hannah Wampler and First Team All-Summit League performer Chelsi Rohloff.
- Goals, Goals, Goals: UNO returns 79.2 percent of its goal scoring from last season, led by senior Chelsi Rohloff who netted 10 goals in 2014. Senior defender Hannah Wampler added four goals.
- Lending a Helping Foot: The Mavericks return four players who tallied at least three assists last season. Rohloff led the team with four assists last season. Kyla Booker, Lydia Holtmann, and Courtney Neville each had three assists.
- Preseason Predictions: Omaha was picked to finish fifth in the preseason Summit League Coaches Poll. Last season, the Mavericks defeated preseason favorite Denver and post season tournament champion South Dakota State.
- Klosterman's Way: Don Klosterman (194-54-11) enters his 17th season at the helm of the Omaha program in 2015. During his stint with the Mavericks, he has been named NSCAA Coach of the Year twice (2002, 2005) and won the NCAA Division II national title in 2005.
Examining Creighton
- The Bluejays have started the 2015 season 3-1 with wins over Central Michigan, Northern Illinois, and South Dakota. Their lone loss is a 2-1 decision at UMKC, who Omaha defeated in the preseason, 4-0.
- Ylenia Sachau leads Creighton with four points. Seven players have scored at least one point this season for CU.
- Freshman Erin Scott has started every game in goal for Creighton. Scott has a 3-1 record with a 0.51 goals against average and a.920 save percentage.
- Former Creighton men's soccer standout Ross Paule is in his first year as the head coach of the women's program.
Series vs. Creighton
Friday marks the seventh meeting between the two schools. The Bluejays lead the all-time series, 5-1.
Last season, Creighton needed two overtimes to take a 2-1 win. Omaha struck first in the 23rd minute when Kyla Booker headed home a cross from Chelsi Rohloff. The Bluejays leveled the match at 1-1 in the 89th minute, before scoring the game winner in the 102nd minute.
Notes on North Dakota
- UND is 2-1 overall prior to Friday's match-up with Green Bay. North Dakota has wins over Northern Illinois (2-1) and South Dakota (4-0) this season. Their lone loss came to Northwestern, 2-0.
- Zoe Foster and Veronica Kessler lead the team with two goals apiece.
- Olivia Swenson has played every minute in goal this season for UND. Swenson has a 2-1 record with a 1.00 goals against average and a .875 save percentage.
- Kessler was named the Big Sky Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Week for her performance last week.
- Matt Kellogg is in his third year leading the North Dakota women's soccer program.
Series vs. North Dakota
Sunday's game will be the 18th match between the former Northern Central Conference rivals. Omaha leads the all-time series 14-4. UNO has won the past six meetings.

Omaha returns home for a home match against Drake on Friday, Sept. 11 at 7 p.m., before traveling to Minnesota for a 1 p.m. start on Sunday, Sept. 13.
