Mavericks Drop Non-Conference Match to Missouri State, 1-0

OMAHA, Neb. – A goal off a scramble in the box by Missouri State's Erin Stewart lifted the Bears past Omaha on Tuesday evening, 1-0.
With the defeat, the Mavericks wrapped up the non-conference portion of their schedule with a 3-5-2 record, while MSU improved 6-3-1.
Omaha outshot Missouri State on the evening 10-6, but trailed in shots on goal, 4-1. Lydia Holtmann and Emily Romero each had two shots to lead the Mavericks. Romero had the lone UNO shot on goal.
Stewart's goal in the 32nd minute came following a cross from the right side of the box from Brooke Prondzinski. Prondzinski's cross was touched by Cassie Le before Stewart's shot found its way through a mass of players in front of the goal and into the back of the net.
Romero had a scoring opportunity in the 49th minute, but the Bear's Jessica Perry made the save.Â
In the 88th minute, Romero played a corner kick into the penalty area that found the head of Abby Meader, but Meader's attempt was blocked out of bounds.
Goalkeeper Katlyn Schochenmaier allowed one goal, while making three saves on six shots. Schochenmaier is now 3-3-1 on the season.
Omaha starts Summit League action on Friday, Oct. 2 at North Dakota State. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
