Five Mavericks Earn All-Summit Nods

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Five Omaha Mavericks were tabbed all-conference Wednesday morning, the league announced. Omaha landed one player on each the first and second teams, while three Mavericks earned All-Newcomer honors.

Margaret LaVigne represents the Mavericks as a First Team All-Summit selection, while Grace Ostergaard was tabbed Second Team All-Summit. Sena Ahovissi, Cece Behrens, and Rachel Thigpen were named to the All-Newcomer Team.

LaVigne's first team honor marks her third career All-Summit nod and second straight First Team honor. LaVigne has logged every minute of every match on the pitch this season helping Omaha to nine shutouts. The senior defender tallied an assist vs. Oral Roberts and has five shots this season.

For the second straight season, Ostergaard earned Second Team All-Summit honors. She was also selected to the newcomer team last season. Ostergaard has one goal and three assists in league play. The sophomore midfielder recorded a three-point performance at Western Illinois with a goal and assist in the 2-1 win. Ostergaard tallied assists in back-to-back matches at North Dakota and vs. South Dakota State.

In her debut season with Omaha, Ahovissi appeared in 18 matches and made 14 starts at defender earning her an All-Newcomer nod. She helped the Mavericks post nine shutouts this season. Ahovissi has two assists in Summit League Play. She tallied her first career assist at Western Illinois. She recorded her second at North Dakota.

Behrens picked up All-Newcomer honors for Omaha following a productive freshman campaign. She finished the regular season with three goals on six shots on goal. Her first career goal came at Missouri State helping force a 1-1 draw with the Bears. Behrens also tallied goals in league wins vs. Western Illinois and at North Dakota State. Her goal vs the Leathernecks was the game winner.

Thigpen completes this season's accolades with an All-Newcomer nod. She made seven starts and 10 total appearances in goal loggings nearly 800 minutes between the pipes. The fifth-year goalkeeper has a 5-3-0 record to finish the regular season. She notched a season-high five saves at Gonzaga and finished with a .742 save percentage. Thigpen finished with a .458 goals against average in league play and a .93 GAA overall this season.

The Mavericks head into the Summit League Championships this week. As the No. 3 seed, they will face No. 2 South Dakota State in the semifinals on Thursday, Nov. 4 at 5 p.m. CT.
