OMAHA, Neb. – On Sunday evening, Omaha women's soccer (2-1-2, 0-0-0 Summit) faced off against Nebraska, losing their first match of the 2025 season. Nebraska defeated the Mavericks 2-1 at Caniglia Field.

How It Happened

Nebraska struck first in the 12th minute when Ella Rudney put the Huskers on the board for a 1-0 lead.
Omaha nearly answered in the 31st minute as senior defender Lindsey Birch (Rocehster, Minn.) fired a shot just wide of the right post,
Two minutes later, Nebraska doubled its advantage with a strike from Reese Borer.
The Mavericks clawed back in the 62nd minute. Freshman forward Kendall Dobberstein (Gretna, Neb.) lined up for a corner kick, sending it to freshman defender Presley Douglas (Elkhorn, Neb.), who headed it across to sophomore defender Isabelle Milne (Barrie, Ontario).
Milne buried her first goal of the 2025 campaign to cut the deficit to one.
Omaha finished with five shots on goal, while Nebraska held the edge with 10.

Omaha will travel to Drake on Wednesday, Sept. 3, for a 5 p.m. kickoff, then face No. 22 Oklahoma on Sunday at 1 p.m.
