
Men's Soccer Heads East to Face UMass

OMAHAÂ - The Omaha men's soccer team (5-3-3, 0-0-1) heads to Amherst, Massachusetts, to face UMass (4-5-3, 0-0-1) on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. on The Summit League Network.
THE PRIMER - Omaha returns to Summit League action Saturday as it heads east to face UMass. The Minutemen enter the match 4-5-3 overall and 0-0-1 in league play. UMass has a win over No. 24 Connecticut and draws against No. 10 Bryant and No. 22 Cornell. The Minutemen are 0-2-2 in their last four matches.
SERIES SNAPSHOTÂ - The two teams met for the first time last season, playing to a 1-1 draw at Caniglia Field in 2025.
IN THE REARVIEW - Omaha got back on track last Saturday with a 4-0 win over Nebraska Wesleyan at Caniglia Field. Italo Jenkins led the way with a brace, earning him Summit League Offensive Peak Performer of the Week honors. The Mavericks outshot the Prairie Wolves 28-2.
CHECK THE RANKSÂ - Omaha checked in at sixth in the West Region in the United Soccer Coaches poll, its highest ranking of the season.
OFFENSIVE FIREPOWERÂ - Expect plenty of offense Saturday as the Mavericks have been rolling offensively this season. Omaha has already scored more goals this season than it did all of last year, netting 27 goals after scoring 17 in 2025. Coach Dowling has the Mavs ranked first in the Summit League and 12th in the country with 2.45 goals per game. The Mavs also lead the conference in shots per game.
MEET THEÂ MAVSÂ - Omaha welcomes 16 newcomers to the roster this season. The team features six freshmen, seven sophomores, seven juniors, six seniors and one graduate student. Positionally, the Mavericks have seven defenders, eight forwards, four goalkeepers and eight midfielders. The roster includes 10 Nebraska natives: one from Lincoln, three from Gretna, three from Omaha, one from Fremont, one from Bennington and one from Elkhorn.KEEP YOUR EYES OUT FORÂ - Senior forward Italo Jenkins (Atlanta, Georgia) returns for his third season with the Mavericks. Last year, he tallied five goals in 841 minutes, finishing as the team's second-leading goal scorer. Jenkins has already recorded four goals and an assist this season.
Senior midfielder Brett Perkins (Gretna, Nebraska) is in his fourth year with the Mavericks and serves as team captain. Last season, he recorded two assists in 930 minutes. Perkins leads Omaha this season with five goals and two assists. He is the only remaining member of the 2023 Omaha squad that won the Summit League Tournament.
Senior goalkeeper Kamy Ndione (Osaka, Japan) returns between the posts for Omaha. Last season, he played 900 minutes, recording 33 saves and two shutouts. Ndione has posted four clean sheets this season and recorded a career-high nine saves against Western Illinois. He has 29 saves this season, nearing last year's total of 33.
SPREADING THE LOVEÂ - The Mavericks have received contributions throughout the lineup this season, with 13 different players scoring a goal and eight recording an assist. Perkins leads the way with five goals and two assists.
FEARLESS LEADERSÂ - Dowling enters his fifth season at the helm of the Mavericks with a 31-33-16 record. He is joined by associate head coach Josh McReynolds, who is in his fifth season, assistant coach Ed Gordon, who is in his third season, and assistant coach Brendan Dally, who is in his second season.
WHO'S ON DECKÂ - Omaha returns to Caniglia Field on Friday to take on Oral Roberts. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
