OMAHA - The Omaha men's soccer team (3-2-2) hits the road to face Western Illinois (2-3-1) on Thursday afternoon. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. and can be streamed on ESPN+.
The Leathernecks have wins over Quincy and Illinois-Springfield, while suffering losses to DePaul, Green Bay and UIC.
The former Summit League foes have met 16 times, with the Mavs dominating the all-time series. Omaha leads the series 13-2-1 and has won the last 12 meetings. The Mavs have allowed just two goals in the last six meetings against the Leathernecks.
Everyone has gotten a piece of the pie so far this season for the Mavs, as 10 different players have scored a goal and eight different players have recorded an assist. Mikey Stukenholtz leads the way with three goals and seven total points.
Head coach Dowling has led an impressive offensive turnaround this season, as the Mavs have already scored 17 goals this season after scoring just 17 all of last season. Omaha's 17 goals lead the Summit League and rank 10th in the nation. The Mavs' 17 goals through seven games are the most through seven games in program history.
