Men's Soccer Hosts No. 7 Creighton on Tuesday Night
Sep 28, 2026 | Men's Soccer
THE PRIMER - Omaha hosts its toughest challenge to date on Tuesday night as the Mavericks welcome crosstown rival and seventh-ranked Creighton to Caniglia Field. The Bluejays come into Tuesday's match undefeated with a 9-0-2 record. The game can be seen on Midco Sports with Brent Weber on the call.
SERIES SNAPSHOT - Creighton leads the all-time series 6-1-2. Omaha will be looking for its first win over Creighton since Feb. 27, 2021.
IN THE REARVIEW - Omaha battled tooth and nail with Delaware in its first Summit League match of the season on Sunday as the Mavs played to a 3-3 draw with the Blue Hens. The Mavs got goals from Italo Jenkins, Brady Robins and Brett Perkins.
CHECK THE RANKS - Omaha checked in at fifth in the West Region in the United Soccer Coaches poll.
AN OPPORTUNITY AWAITS - Opportunities like Tuesday night do not come often, and the Mavs are looking to seize it. Omaha will be looking for its first ranked win since 2021 when it defeated No. 23 UNC Greensboro. A win would also be Omaha's first win over a top-10 opponent in program history.
OFFENSIVE FIREPOWER - Expect plenty of offense on Tuesday night at Caniglia as two of the nation's top offenses will meet. Omaha's offensive turnaround has been stellar this season, as the Mavs have already scored more goals this season than they did in all of 2025. Coach Dowling has the Mavs ranked first in the Summit League and 15th in the country with 2.33 goals per game. Creighton brings in the nation's second-best offense with 3.18 goals per game.
MEET THE MAVS - Omaha welcomes 16 new Mavericks to the roster. The team has six freshmen, seven sophomores, seven juniors, six seniors and one graduate student. Positionally, the team has seven defenders, eight forwards, four goalkeepers and eight midfielders. The Mavericks have 10 Nebraska natives on the team this year, including one from Lincoln, three from Gretna, three from Omaha, one from Fremont, one from Bennington and one from Elkhorn.
KEEP YOUR EYES OUT FOR - Senior forward Italo Jenkins (Atlanta, Ga.) is back for a third season with the Mavericks. Last year, he tallied five goals in 841 minutes to earn a spot as the second-highest goal scorer on the team. Jenkins recorded his 10th career goal against Yale and scored Sunday against Delaware. Senior midfielder Brett Perkins (Gretna, Neb.) is in his fourth year with the Mavericks and serves as team captain. Last year, he recorded a pair of assists and 930 minutes for the Mavs. Perkins has recorded four goals and two assists to lead the Mavs this season. He is the only remaining member of the 2023 Omaha squad that won the Summit League Tournament. Senior goalkeeper Kamy Ndione (Osaka, Japan) is back between the posts for Omaha. Last season, he played 900 minutes, recording 33 saves and a pair of shutouts. Ndione has posted four clean sheets this season and had a career-high nine saves against Western Illinois. He already has 27 saves this season, approaching last year's mark of 33.
SPREADING THE LOVE - Everyone has gotten a piece of the pie so far this season for the Mavs, as 12 different Mavericks have scored a goal and eight different Mavericks have recorded an assist. Brett Perkins leads the way with four goals and two assists.
FEARLESS LEADERS - Dowling enters his fifth season at the helm of the Mavericks with a record of 30-32-16. He is joined by associate head coach Josh McReynolds (fifth season), assistant coach Ed Gordon (third season) and assistant coach Brendan Dally (second season).
WHO'S ON DECK - Omaha will face Nebraska Wesleyan on Saturday night at 7 p.m. at Caniglia Field.
