UNO Volleyball Picked Fifth in NCC Preseason Poll

With four returning starters and 10 returning letterwinners from last season's 12-18 squad, the 2004 Maverick volleyball team has been picked fifth in the NCC Preseason Volleyball Poll in a vote by league coaches.
Augustana and NCC newcomer Minnesota Duluth have been tabbed by league coaches as the favorites to capture the North Central Conference championship. The two teams each received three first place, three second place and one third place votes for a total of 44 points. Minnesota State, the recipient of the other first place vote was selected third with 30 points.
Augustana and North Dakota State captured the NCC title last season with 11-3 records. Augustana was joined by current NCC members Minnesota Duluth, North Dakota and Minnesota State in the 2003 NCAA North Central Region tournament.
The Mavericks begin the 2004 regular season with a 7 p.m. match at defending national champion North Alabama on Thursday, Aug. 26.
