Johnson, Freeman Earn NCC Honors

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- UNO teammates Ashley Freeman and Christie Johnson were both honored for their performances last week in leading the Mavericks to three-game sweeps over second-ranked Minnesota Duluth and Augustana.
Freeman, a senior outside hitter from Council Bluffs, Iowa, was named the NCC Player of the Week after hitting .312 (26k-6e-64ta), while averaging 4.33 kills, 1.00 digs, and 1.00 blocks per game in UNO's two victories.
Johnson, a senior setter from Lincoln, Neb., was named the NCC Setter of the Week after dishing out 15.17 assists per game in the Mavericks' two wins. Johnson also hit .353 (7k-1e-17ta) while averaging 1.17 kills, 1.83 digs, and 0.83 blocks per game.
Nebraska-Omaha (16-5, 7-1 NCC) will travel to Kearney, Neb. on Tuesday, Oct. 25, for a 7 p.m. match against top-ranked Nebraska-Kearney (24-1). The Mavericks, who have won four straight, will then resume North Central Conference action on Saturday, Oct. 29, when they entertain South Dakota beginning at 6 p.m. at the Sapp Fieldhouse. The match will be broadcast live on NET2 (Cox Channel 16) and webcast live at unotv.unomaha.edu.
