UNO Picked Third in Preseason Volleyball Poll

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- The University of Nebraska at Omaha volleyball team has been picked to finish third in the 2005 North Central Conference standings in the NCC volleyball coaches poll released today.
Minnesota Duluth has been picked by league coaches to repeat as North Central Conference champion.
UMD received four first-place votes and three second-place votes for a total of 46 points. Second-place Augustana totaled 38 points with three second and four third-place selections. Nebraska-Omaha was in third with two first-place nods and St. Cloud State received one first-place selection and was picked as fourth in the query.
Minnesota Duluth captured the 2004 NCC crown in its first year in the league with a 10-2 mark. South Dakota had its best league finish in second with a 9-3 mark while Augustana and St. Cloud State were third with 7-5 marks.
Minnesota Duluth was joined by Nebraska-Omaha, Augustana, St. Cloud State and South Dakota in the NCAA North Central Region tournament.
Minnesota Duluth, mentored by AVCA/Tachikara USA Division II Coach of the Year Jim Boos, won the North Central Region and advanced to the NCAA Division II Volleyball Championship semifinal match before falling to eventual national champion Barry.
Teams begin play on the weekend of August 25 with conference play opening on September 16.
