Reicks Leads UNO to Season-Opening Win

OMAHA, Neb. -- Junior outside hitter Christina Reicks collected 12 kills and hit .450 in her first career start to lead the Univerisity of Nebraska at Omaha volleyball team to a 30-24, 30-28, 30-23 season-opening victory over Regis before 411 fans at the Omaha Executive Inn & Suites Classic at UNO's Sapp Fieldhouse Friday afternoon.
Reicks also added a match-high four service aces and seven digs in the win. Senior outside hitter Ashley Freeman and sophomore middle blocker Carlie Christensen were also in double figures with 10 kills each. Senior libero Chelsea Miller led UNO defensively with 12 kills along with two service aces. Senior setter Christie Johnson dished out 40 assists while adding seven digs.
The Mavericks outhit Regis .278 to .116 in the match and held a 16 to 7 advantage in total blocks.
Nebraska-Omaha (1-0) will continue action Friday evening when they play host to Hillsdale beginning at 6:30 p.m.
On Saturday, the Mavericks will battle Drury at 1 p.m. and conclude the tournament with a 6 p.m. match against Southern Illinois-Edwardsville.
