Reicks Leads UNO To Victory Over MSU

OMAHA, Neb. -- Junior outside hitter Christina Reicks pounded a career-high 23 kills and hit a blistering .452 to lead the University of Nebraska at Omaha volleyball team to a 30-27, 25-30, 30-25, 30-17 victory over Minnesota State University, Mankato in North Central Conference action before 612 fans at the Sapp Fieldhouse Friday night.
Reicks has now recorded double-figure kill totals in seven-straight matches. She also notched her second double-double of the season by adding 14 kills.
The Mavericks outhit MSU .249 to .091 in the match. Sophomore middle blocker Carlie Christensen added 12 kills, while hitting .458 and senior outside hitter Ashley Freeman contributed with 11 kills, nine digs and seven blocks.
Led by senior libero Chelsea Miller's match-high 28 digs, the Mavericks held a commanding 89 to 69 edge in digs. Four other UNO players notched double-figure kill totals, including Reicks (14), Nicole McLeod (12), Christie Johnson (11), and Stacie Wemhoff (11).
The Mavericks also held a decided advantage in total blocks with a 25 to 17 margin. Senior middle blocker Briana Ritter recorded a career-high 11 blocks in the win.
Nebraska-Omaha (10-4/3-0)will return to action Saturday night, Oct. 1, when they host 23rd-ranked Augustana beginning at 6 p.m. in the Sapp Fieldhouse.
